New homes for some
Nike and Asics left for their new homes. Reebok is staying here, unless she can find a show home. Adidas is still waiting for a forever home.

WOW, 6 weeks!
Pups are 6 weeks old already! It has been a busy week. My sister and 3 nieces from Wisconsin visited all day on Monday. We had visitors from Nebraska and Minnesota as well as several groups of local friends. On top of that I came down with a nasty summer cold. Sorry I haven't gotten the 5 week photos up, yet. Here are a few random shots. I will try to get 6 week photos taken, and all posted, soon.

4 weeks old!
Wow, time flies. Puppies are now staying alone during the day; Martina was getting tired of full-time babysitting. They are eating Pro Plan Puppy food soaked in water. They love exploring the house, and they got to spend a little bit of time outside this weekend. It was quite warm, and they wanted to find shade and take a nap. Seemed like my flower beds were perfect for that!
These are "unstacked" photos, in that I didn't try to get perfect show poses. Enjoy!

3 weeks old
Hard to believe they are only 3 weeks. They are walking around, exploring, barking, and playing! They have been out of the whelping box for several days. They kept barking unless I took them out. So now they are in a penned in area, with the whelping box as an escape for mom! Most of the time she is content to watch them and let them nurse whenever they want. Martina still doesn't have much interest in going outdoors. I will try to get new pictures up tomorrow night. Off to bed, now.

Eyes open!
Eyes are open, ears are starting to hear, voices are being tested. Alot of yapping going on as they explore their new world of sights and sounds. Spots are more evident. Puppies are stepping off their rug/blanket to go potty now. Mattina spends most of her time lying next to the whelping box, only visiting to feed and clean up. She is more content to wander around the house, but still does not like to be outside and away from her little ones for more than a couple minutes.

11 days old

Pups are starting to open their eyes! Asics's are open the most. She is the smallest pup. Brooks and Nike are a bit bigger than the rest. All are eating well and growing fast. They are really crawling around in their box. Martina is spending alot of time lying next to the whelping box. She is more relaxed when the puppies are picked up and when they are taken into the living room to be held.

week 1
Wow, time flies! The babies will be a week old tomorrow. We ended up with 4 girls and a boy. Since I had to miss a 5K road race to stay home and assist with the birth, the puppies' litter names will be running shoes! Martina's brother, Toby, was going to join my in the race. I'll have to make it up to him another time.
We had a visit to the vet on Monday. Dew claws were removed. There was a little fussing, but everyone was happy to get back to nursing.
I'm amazed at how the spots are already starting to show thru. I don't know if it is because this is a summer litter, and the hair is sparser/shorter? Face markings are sure cute. I don't use ribbon to mark my puppies, I learn to tell them apart by their faces as soon as they are born. I jot down notes about spots on noses, muzzles, around eyes, and on the ears. These 5 are easy to tell apart. Just check out the photos.

The big day!
Pups are arriving slowly. Martina is taking her sweet time. This is her first litter. She is calm and doing a nice job of cleaning the pups as they arrive. So far, we have 4. 3 girls, and 1 boy. 1 girl has an eye patch. All are nursing. Updates as time allows.
